Sheryl Alethea
About:
Hi! I’m Sheryl, an illustrator from Indonesia 🇮🇩✨
As a child, I dreamed of becoming an artist and studying in Paris. Now, 22 years later, I find myself at Falmouth University (not Paris, but close enough ) pursuing a dream my inner child had almost forgotten.
Like my surname Alethea, which means 'truth,' my work speaks of the battles we fight in the dark.
It’s about vulnerability, acceptance, and the slow, often unseen journey of self-growth.
Rooted in my Indonesian heritage, I blend laser-cut and 3D techniques with metaphors from Wayang shadow play and Batik patterns to create interactive works.
Through my character, the Goddess of the Heart —an icon of strength born from vulnerability—, my church manifesto, and my newest project (a surprise you’ll discover at the exhibition!), I hope you find quiet strength woven between the light and shadows of my work.
